With 75.2 million followers on Instagram and only 58 posts, the newest post on 27-year-old Demi Lovato’s Instagram is an intimate black and white snapshot of her and her new beau. Posting late Tuesday night Lovato tagged her new love in her photo, revealing her relationship with 25-year-old Austin Wilson to the world and shocking fans.
Within just an hour of Lovato’s post, Wilson gained thousands of followers on his own Insta. Only 7 minutes after Lovato’s post of the two lovebirds, Wilson shared a similar photo of him and Lovato to his Instagram account captioning it “My Love🥰” similar to Lovato’s caption “My ❤️….”
In Wilson’s colored photo, he dons a colorful hot pink hairdo. He stands behind Lovato and holds her close as he wraps his arms around her affectionately. Who is he? We’re here to find out.
Austin Wilson is a model
Wilson is a model based in Los Angeles. He models for clothing brands like For Those Who Sin, Civil Regime, and MSTKN. His photos have also appeared in LA Canvas magazine in which he modeled for the clothing brand Konus. Many of his modeling photos can be found on his Instagram.
Wilson has an alternative fashion style and vibe similar to new girlfriend Lovato, and it is easy to see why the two gravitated towards each other. Wilson also has tattoos all over his body, including his face, neck and arms. Though not sporting as many as Wilson Lovato can definitely appreciate a good tattoo herself, having a good amount of her own.
Lovato and Wilson have received a mix of comments on Instagram
Some fans and celebrities have commented on how happy they are for the couple. Certain Instagram users have left comments with concern for Lovato’s sobriety, one Instagram user even stating, “I can tell they do drugs together.” Another Instagram user has pointed out the resemblance of Wilson to Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), an American rapper and actor from Cleveland, Ohio. This is not far fetched as Wilson and MGK both have a slim, tall physique, similar haircuts, and are both covered in tattoos.
What happened to Lovato’s relationship with Mike Johnson?
Lovato was dating “The Bachelorette” contestant Mike Johnson one month before dating Austin Wilson, so the reveal of her new relationship may be shocking to many. Before her new romance, Lovato went on a couple of dates with Johnson, but things took a backseat for the two and eventually died down.
Lovato and Johnson dated for three months before ending things. Lovato took interest in Johnson when she watched him on “The Bachelorette.” After Johnson’s elimination from the show, Lovato openly flirted with him via Instagram commenting the following on a photo at the beginning of July: “I’M RIGHT HERE MIKE I’M RIGHT HERE BOO MY MOM ALREADY LOVES YOU TOO.”
It’s safe to say that Johnson took the bait as on July 18, he told Us Weekly during the Men Tell All Taping, “I’m flirting with her too. Tell her, ‘What’s up, baby?’ I would definitely take her out for an initial date, yeah. One hundred percent not scared about it at all. I would be like, ‘Oh my god! Girl, come here.’”
In September the connection between the two had progressed, and when Johnson was asked about Lovato on the Red Carpet, the reality TV star told E! News, “I’m just getting to know Demi. I think she’s absolutely fantastic and I don’t want no pressure on her, no pressure on me, we’re just trying to get to know each other. That’s all.”
On Oct. 1 while on iHeart Radio’s “Almost Famous” podcast, Johnson revealed that he and Lovato were still dating, the pair had gone on multiple dates, and that Lovato “kisses really well.”
Toward the end of October, a source told E! News that Lovato and Johnson’s relationship was over, stating, “Demi and Mike’s fling has fizzled out and they aren’t seeing each other or texting like they were before.” The source also confirmed that nothing happened, the relationship just ran its course.
Clearly, it’s early days for Demi Lovato and Austin Wilson’s relationship, but some people are scared of where this relationship is headed. With Lovato’s history of drug abuse and recent drug relapse in July 2018, fans have high hopes that Wilson genuinely cares about Lovato’s mental health and sobriety. They fear that Lovato may be going down a dark path. Only time will tell.
